The U.S. Army Artillery Museum tells the story of Artillery from 1775 to the present with over 70 guns and artillery pieces and numerous other artefacts from headgear and ammunition to small arms and uniforms. The Museum was opened on 2 June 2009. Previously, the Artillery Collection was part of the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum collection. This T92 had originally been on display on Maryland Boulevard at Aberdeen Proving Ground but was moved into storage and dismantled in 1986 in preparation for restoration. It was never restored, and was moved out from ‘behind the fence’ early in 2009. (Source: N. Baumgardner/AFVNDB).
It was transferred from APG to Fort Sill in about 2010. It is in a very poor condition and incomplete – it consists of the chassis, gun tube, recuperator and various other large components but no front or side armour, and it is unlikely to be restored in the near future. This vehicle consists of a Chinese Type 65 anti-aircraft gun mounted by the North Vietnamese on a Soviet T-34 Tank chassis, for use primarily in an anti-aircraft role. However, when it was captured by the Army of the Republic of Viet Nam (ARVN) in 1972 it was being used in a ground-support role.
It was transferred from the Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Ground in about November 2012; it had previously been on show in the Display Park. In October 2013 it was being stored near the Fort Sill logistics paint shop (source: Artillery on the Move video).
