The Chinese Type 69 tank was developed from the Type 59 and was first observed in 1982. The tank is similar to the T-59 but can be distinguished by its additional equipment, the most prominent of which is the side skirts with distinctive angled lower edges and cutouts. Many late T-69’s were fitted with a laser rangefinder over the barrel.. The T-69-I has a smoothbore gun, the T-69-II has a rifled barrel. Many T-69’s were exported to the Middle East, particuarly Iraq, with many of these now in museum collections as a result of the Gulf War.
ID points are the egg shaped gunner's sight and coax openings in the front of the turret and the deep fording covers on the engine deck. The main ID point for a Type 69 would be the rear wall of the lower hull. Type 69s have a fan housing like a T62. Also the gunners sight on top of the turret is square shaped and covered with tread plate. (Source: tanker2010 via Com-Central).
