The ZSU-57-2 was developed as the Obiekt 500 in 1957 as a post-war attempt to provide mobile SP AA support to Soviet ground forces. The vehicle mounted twin 57mm S-68 guns in a large open turret which was not provided with any sophisticated targeting systems beyond manual sighting. The turret had a large cage at the rear for collecting spent shell casings. The ZSU-57-2 had only four road wheel pairs each side. The ZSU-57-2 was exported to many countries.
