It was confiscated by militiamen who found a buyer from one of the Baltic republics and prepared it for illegal export to Germany. Customs officers in Saint Petersburg opened the container (marked ‘scrap iron’), discovered the tank and seized it. It was restored in the workshops at Kubinka before being transferred here.
