The KV-14 or SU-152 was developed on the KV-1S hull as a measure to provide heavier tank support than provided by medium tank chassis mounted weapons. The SU-152 was introduced in 1943 and was used very successfully at battles including Kursk to despatch the new generation of German heavy tanks such as the Ferdinand and Tiger 1. The SU-152 was replaced in service by the ISU-152 on the IS-2 chassis.
