This M42 Semovente is located in front of the local cemetery in Lonate Pozzolo, surrounded by soldiers’ graves. The cemetery is mainly used for civilians, but it has a small area, with the tank, a plane wreck and two small First World War guns, that is called Parco della Rimembranza (Park of Remembrance), dedicated to the memory of fallen Italian soldiers. (Source: M. Foti). It was originally established by Napoleon in 1811, when ordered to move graves outside the village; after construction it was transformed into a memorial park.
