Southeastern Equipment Company, Inc. (SECO) had its beginning in 1951 as a local garage in Augusta, Georgia and was under the direction of then owner and president John S. Smith. Now, under the leadership of partners Roy Smith and Byron Morris, SECO sells and delivers U.S. built military equipment and spare parts around the world. It is a supplier to both U.S. defence procurement and allied foreign military procurement agencies, and stocks over 28,000 line items inside a 65,000 square foot warehouse. (Source: SECO Augusta).
SECO was one of several companies that specialized in converting redundant AFVs into tracked vehicles for the logging industry. For this purpose, SECO bought some 47 surplus Sexton self-propelled guns from the Portuguese government as late as the early 1980s, though it is unknown if any of these were ever actually converted. In 2000, some fifteen remained, all with their engines, and for sale at $9,800. (Source: Sherman Register).
