The Type 4 Ke-Nu was the result of the conversion of about one hundred Ha-Go tanks from 1944, replacing their turrets with ones from the standard Chi-Ha medium tank. These turrets had become available from the upgrading of Chi-Ha tanks to the Shinhoto version. The Ke-Nu was unpopular, however, because its increased weight led to reduced overall performance.
