The Obiekt 268 was developed at the OKB of zavod No 174 in 1956 on the chassis of the T-10 heavy tank. The Obiekt 268 featured a 152mm M-64 gun mounted in a large fixed casemate, mounted slightly forward of the vehicle centre, the weapon firing a 43.5kg shell. The vehicle was fitted with several interesting design features, including a stereoscopic rangefinder on the vehicle roof and an experiemntal V-12-5 engine developing 750hp. The Obiekt 268 did not enter service with the Soviet Army.
