The SU-100Y was built on the chassis of the T-100 heavy tank which had been deployed in unsuccessful combat trials in Finland. Developed in 1939, the SU-100Y was built in the spring of 1940. It mounted a 130mm model 1-B-13 naval gun and a coaxial 7.62mm DT machine gun. The SU-100Y was tested at the Kubinka Polygon and took part in the defence of Moscow near the main road. The SU-100Y remains preserved at Kubinka today. The SU-100Y was a large vehicle, measuring 10.9m in length, 3.4 m wide and 3.29m in height. The vehicle could travel at a maximum speed of 32km/hour. The vehicle was powered by an unusual 10 cylinder engine developing 890hp.
