The T-62 Drozd was fitted with a turret mounted active defence system to detect and intercept incoming ATGM's in a similar configuration to that earlier fitted on the T-55 series. Like the T-55 system, the turret has a detection system and tube launchers for the missiles. The tank was issued to the Soviet Army in small numbers.
