Obiekt 140
The Obiekt 140 was developed at the Kartsev bureau KB No 520 at Uralwagonzavod in Nizhny Tagil in 1957. It was originally developed concurrently with the T-62 as a "T-54M upgrade". The Obiekt superficially resembles a T-62 but has a different hull, turret, armament, transmission with six road wheelsper side and live track. The tank was a modification of the T-54B, fitted with a 100mm D-54 gun with a distinctive muti-baffle muzzle brake.
