The ASU-76 was developed in 1949 concurrently with the K-73. Armed with a 76.2mm gun with a multiple baffle muzzle brake, the open vehicle used the same components as the K-73 in its construction, including the GAZ-51E engine. The ASU-76 was the predecessor to the ASU-57.
