This M7 was recovered from the sea bed off the Normandie beaches where it had lain since D-Day, 6 June 1944. It was recovered from a sunken LCT, along with two others, by M. Jacques Lemonchois. One of the others has gone into the Musée Des Épaves Sous-Marines Du Débarquement at Commes (q.v.), and the other has gone to the 68th Artillery Regiment at Valbonne. This one arrived at the Museum in November 1986. It is in a rusted and barnacled condition but is largely complete.
