This tank sits on a concrete pad in the memorial park. In the TACOM Central Registry 8/2007 it is logged with American Legion Post 30 at 824 Central Avenue, New Rockford and its registration is given as 7537163 (source: N. Baumgardner). It appears to have serious suspension problems on the right side, where it is sagging noticeably at the front; possibly indicating a broken torsion bar or two (source: A. Adams). It is missing its turret rear stowage bin and has a data plate on the hull rear (source: M. Neukom). It is an ex-Italian M47, and the data plate indicates that it was upgraded by ASTRA S.p.A. of Piacenza, Italy, on 15 February 1966; it reads:
ASTRA S.p.A. OFF. COSTRUZIONI E RICOSTRUZIONI AUTOM. VIA E. MILLO 12 – PIACENZA – TELEF. 24867 REVISIONE GENERALE DATA: 15-2-66. NO. 10 |
