Created in 1940, the Swiss Army originally used the firing range near Vugelles-La Mothe for infantry rifle and machine-gun training. Since 1952 it has also been used for anti-tank weapon training. It was in the news in 2009 following the settling of a long-running disagreement between the range administrators and local residents over noise caused by firing on the range, particularly at night. A small group of tanks is displayed beside the range.
