The Officine Fiore (Flower Workshops) company traces its origins from the Ercolano timber industry which, in 1946, was converted with new facilities for the repair of railway rolling stock and in 1958 began building new railway carriages. In 1963 in Caserta new Fiore workshops began constructing steel trams. A special department was also dedicated to the overhaul and repair of tracked and wheeled military vehicles. Tanks that have undergone a major upgrade typically have the company name marked on a data plate welded to the rear hull.
In 1979 the company acquired several contracts for the supply of rolling stock. In 1992 the Ercolano and Caserta workshops were combined at Caserta to form the largest production site in Italian railway construction.
In 1993 the company became incorporated into Firema Trasporti SpA together with other group companies. This group itself ran into financial difficulties during 2010, and went into special administration in August 2010.
