The Museum of the War for the Peace ‘Diego de Henriquez’ is a large and varied collections of objects collected by a local man, Diego de Henriquez (1909-1974). It contains large and small military equipment, vehicles and weapons. It also includes a large library.of books, maps, files and photographs covering military telecommunications, stamps, militaria (uniforms and headgear) and medals. Henriquez was regarded as an eccentric professor; his hobby was collecting all manner of military items. The enormous collection he acquired has now become a war museum dedicated to peace, one of the most important in Italy. Part of it was destroyed in a fire that also killed Henriquez. For some time the fate of the collection was in doubt, partly because it shear size (and the large size of the items themselves, including a submarine) until it found a permanent and suitable home in its current location. The vehicles and other large exhibits are in storage a short distance from the museum office and can only be visited by request. (Source: M. Foti).
