The original National Infantry Museum was opened in 1959 and contained thousands of small-arms and tens of thousands of related military artefacts. Its many exhibits included military art by distinguished American artists, documents signed by each of the presidents of the U.S., a railway engine, a Gatling Gun, a special collection concerning General Bradley, and one of the most complete collections of military small-arms in the U.S. The museum’s collection also included military vehicles. The original National Infantry Museum was housed inside Fort Benning but on 19 June 2009 a new museum building, now named the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center, was opened in Patriot Park on the outskirts of the base. It has a Bradley on display but it is assumed that the other vehicles in the museum’s collection are now in storage.
