After a number of meetings and discussions the decision was made to go ahead with the project. A suitable site was found along the Newport to Cowes Road which was perfect because it used to be the old army camp. A design for the museum had been finalised, and after two years’ delay permission was finally granted. Since then a lot of work has gone into making the museum a reality and finally we saw the initial opening in August 2003.
