The Muzeum im. “Orła Białego” w Skarżysku-Kamiennej (Museum of the White Eagle in Skarżysko-Kamienna) systematically collects documents and historic materials related to the history of the city and the region, and objects connected with military history both in terms of World War II and related to the Polish Army (covering the struggle for freedom during the Nazi occupation and the post-war story of the Army). Indoor displays include uniforms, ammunition, pistols and other small-arms, soldiers’ equipment, photographs and documents. The museum has one of the largest collections in the country of heavy combat equipment, both before and after World War II, plus post-war military equipment. These objects are displayed in a permanent outdoor exhibition area of almost two hectares, and require systematic restoration and conservation treatments. They include tanks and other vehicles, aircraft and boats. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum is an important research centre, and a museum of the partisan Home Army which collects and compiles documents and historical materials about guerrilla activities in the structures of the Kielce and Polish Underground during the occupation.
