The K-90 prototype was developed in 1950 on the chassis of the M-2 artillery tractor. The K-90 prototype was fitted with a turret later used on the PT-76, armed with a 76.2mm LB-70G gun with its distinctive multi-baffle muzzle brake. The tank was powered by a GAZ-201 engine developing 140hp. Though not series produced, the K-90 was an important link between the wartime light tanks and the heavier armed and larger post-war PT-76.
