I have been interested in armoured vehicles since I was very young. I am the proprietor of Armour Archive and the creator and developer of PreservedTanks.com. I live and work in England, but fortunately have a job that allows me to travel to many other countries.
After graduating from Cranfield University with a Masters Degree in Robotics, I joined the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment on a short service commission. I served as a Troop Leader on Challenger tanks in Germany, and on Stillbrew Chieftains in Canada. I completed my service as an infantry patrol leader in South Tyrone and South Armagh, Northern Ireland. Since then I have worked on the software control of subsea vehicles for the oil industry, and gained a PhD in mechanical engineering, covering the operation of remotely operated vehicles.
I began travelling to visit tank collections when I was 17, mostly by bicycle originally, including around France, Belgium, Holland Germany. I began writing about preserved tanks in earnest at university, during my first degree. I have written and published books on Preserved Tanks in France, Preserved German Tanks and Preserved Tanks in Russia, as well as contributing various articles and items to military vehicle magazines.
