2S7

The 2S7 entered service with the Russian Army in 1976. It is based on a lengthened T-80 MBT chassis and is armed with a 203mm gun with a maximum range of 37500m. When introduced, the 2S7 was the largest SPG in the Russian inventory. The vehicle was originally powered by an A-24-1 diesel engine developing 550Kvt (750hp). The 2S7 was modernised in 1983 including the use of an uprated 625Kvt (840hp) engine which gave the vehicle a speed of 51km/hour and a range of 500km. The 2S7 remains in service with the Russian Army today. The modernised 2S7M is known as the Malka.
