The Semovente da 75/18 was first used by artillery units in North Africa in Spring 1942, and was then issued to tank battalions. Production for the Italian Army was as follows: 60 based on the M40 third series in 1941, 162 based on the M41 in 1942, and 205 based on the M42 in 1943.
A gun and superstructure front from the later Semovente 75/34 are preserved in the Caserma Tazzoli at Trento.
