The Tempio della Fraternità (Temple of Brotherhood) was built in 1951 on the ruins of an ancient 15th Century church. It was founded by a military chaplain in Cella, an ancient monastic settlement that was also a defensive stronghold. It is now a major memorial to commemorate all victims of war. Much of the structure comprises war relics; the altar is made from debris from ruined cities including Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the baptism font comes from a battleship turret, and the pulpit includes remains from two British ships that took part in the Normandy landings.
